Hypo Hog Island Boa
We are still in the process of figuring out what Dante actually is! The person who surrendered him to us labeled his as a “Hypo crimson hog pigmy/red tail boa”. Goodness me, that makes no sense. His markings are not quite right for a Hog Island boa. He is very small for 9 years old, but as we learned from Wraith and Elsa – size can not be used to indicate type nor age of boa. Wraith and Elsa are the same type and same age but are at the opposite ends of extreme size range.
Dante is very pink so perhaps he is a coral morph of some kind. Some of the Panamanian boas can be found in these types of colors and tend to stay rather small. We are letting him settle in and get comfortable before we start evaluating him and doing scale counts. Once we figure out what he is we will update this page. For now it’s good enough to say Dante is spectacularly gorgeous!
